Nail-tastic

Aside from eating I also like nail polish and glitter. I hope you enjoy this brief interlude from overindulgence in the festive period. Meet my new favourite thing, colour changing nail polish. This is the polish before it is in UV light, something amazing happens when you go out in the sun. The thing that’s really awesome is that I can have super bright party polish when i’m outside and business appropriate subtly when I’m inside. Here’s some more cool things you can do with it! It gets better when you add a little glitter. Lucky for me I have plenty of glitter polish thanks to a Christmas gift: I’d like to introduce to another colour changing polish, Ruby Wings I started with a base of silver, before adding on glitter over the top. This is what I ended up with: Just for the record I usually wear OPI, and the base and top coats for the above was OPI. However when using colour change nail polish I tend to avoid a top coat, just …

The Roaring Twenties

There’s some eras that you just get hooked on, and for me watching the movie “Midnight in Paris’ set me off in the direction of all things twenties. It was the music, the dancing, the dresses (especially the dresses) and the crazy opulence of the time. With the release of the Great Gatsby on dvd, the twenties seems to be once again in the spotlight. What is more iconic of the time then the image of a flapper? The dresses they wore, free of the tight corsets that had once shaped their womanly features are just an external reflection of their inner rebellion. The Great Gatsby …

An Experiment with Caviar Nails

In preparation for a ball, and in discovery of products within my price range, I have done a little experimenting with caviar nail polish over the last few days. I absolutely love doing my nails and having new techniques to try, and if I worked somewhere that allowed it they would probably bright and covered in glitter at all times. That and if they didn’t chip so easily with my current line of work. I tried three products, black caviar nails, silver caviar nails and red micro glitter applied in a similar manner to the caviar nails (as opposed to a normal glitter nail polish which has the glitter in the polish itself). In each case I used a Bys nail polish kit, bought at Gloss for $8 (Find them hereย http://www.glossaccessories.com.au/BEAUTY/Products/Nails.aspx). They had so many colours, if it wasn’t for the fact that I had a specific event in mind I think I would have come home with a lot more! The usual method to apply caviar nails is as follows: Apply a thin coat …
