The Partisan on the Water

Right near the water in Claisebrook Cove in East Perth, you’ll find the Partisan on the water. Its right next door to Toast, and certainly seems to take some of their overflow on busy days like the Sunday we visited. Inside the Partisan you’ll find lots of wood and colour, a compliment to their watery surroundings. The service was okay for a weekend, you seat yourself and order at the counter. It was very busy at prime brunch time, but our food and drinks arrived quickly considering. The coffee here was good enough, nothing amazing but it still had a nice flavour to it. It was smooth but just a bit hot intitially. Our ice coffee was lovely, pleasantly sweet with a good coffee flavour and refreshing in an unreasonably hot Perth day. We also tried a malt shake with honey, malt and vanilla. We found this rather strange flavour wise, like something wasn’t right, and there was not enough sweetness. We would give this one a miss. The first of our meals to make …

Rose Deli East Perth

We stumbled upon the just opened Rose Deli on Royal st and were keen to check it out. The interior is in beautiful tones of pale pink and light tan wood. There’s roses on every table and pink cups and crockery to match. It’s a light and pretty atmosphere to dine in. The coffee at Rose Deli is really refreshing. They offer a takeaway cup to have dine in with an extra shot, which we decided to take advantage of. We haven’t tasted a bean like this recently, it was beautiful with a rich and smooth flavour. The latte art was pretty spot on too. The barista was happy to tell us it was a rubra bean, and her face lit up when she discussed it, just what you want for your morning ritual. There’s a small menu of things to choose from, with extra specials on the wall. They have three different types of museli, needless to say we were excited, and ended up with two items from the specials board. We got carried …

Toast East Perth

This is the beautiful view of the water sitting at Toast in East Perth. Toast is a very popular breakfast spot in Perth and draws a crowd, as we discovered, even early on a weekday morning. The staff were really friendly and greeted us as we came in and were happy to chat over the coffee machine. We rather ambitiously all ordered coffee and a juice or smoothie. Tempted by the oodles of choice on the impractically sized menus. The best of the bunch was the banana and honey smoothie, it was thick, creamy and flavoursome. Everything you want in a fruit smoothie. It brought back memories of childhood summers with homemade banana smoothies, just as thick and delicious. The Blimey juice included carrot, apple and watermelon. It was a touch bland but that comes with the ingredients, especially because watermelon dilutes the mix further. The beach bear, which consisted of pineapple, apple, ginger and mint, was very refreshing and summery. Though it could have done with a little more ginger, it was still very …
