Dough Doughnuts / Bed-Stuy

Here at frenchtoastandindiepop we’re intrepid eaters and voracious researchers. Before we go anywhere we must find out about the food and make sure we don’t miss anything. We stumbled across Dough Doughnuts when researching Brooklyn and our remote searching proved correct when it was one of the first places our Airbnb host recommended too. We walked to Dough on a dark and wet night. Freezing, but not quite cold enough for the sky to open into snow (damn!) the novelty of a doughnut shop open late and the need to explore drove us forward. If there’s one thing that defined Dough’s approach to doughnuts it was ‘big’. Big rings, big flavours.  We went for an American inspired choice, the cheesecake doughnut with a graham cracker crumb. We can confirm that cheesecake and doughnuts are a match made in heaven, but you already knew that didn’t you? For tourists like us, this was an absolutely value adding selection! Bohaus Coffee & Flowers / Bed-Stuy

Bohaus is a cute little Bed-Stuy cafe that has paired two beautiful things together – coffee and flowers. Bohaus has a cute little venue and is obviously a favourite with the locals, many came and went while we were there and most were known by name. The vibe was really welcoming and chill with a small space to eat and have your coffee amongst and amazing collection of flowers, pots and plants to purchase. We enjoyed the coffee at Bohaus, generally the cafes in Brooklyn knew their coffee better than any place we’d ever encountered in Manhattan. It was a new brew with good flavour and a bit of creaminess to the milk. We finished our quick visit with flaky croissants. Bed-Stuy locals are lucky to have this gem at their doorstep!
