Most intriguing though was the french toast with pumpkin custard (yes you read that correctly) mascarpone, pecan and a blueberry coulis. This wasn’t an overly sweet breakfast dish and would suit those with a savoury bent looking for something different. We loved the flakiness of the brioche and the juxtaposition of the crunchy pecan crumb with the creamy mascarpone.
Don’t mess with a classic unless it’s something spectacular, fortunately this was! The warmth of the hollandaise, the creaminess, poached eggs and the chunky ham in the crispy waffle made this new take on an eggs benedict and instant classic.
