The East Brunswick Hotel / Brunswick East

You can’t beat the local pub. Everyone needs a local to call their own. Where they know they can go to relax and enjoy a quiet drink, to see a friendly face or share a casual meal. We think we’ve found all of these things at the East Brunswick Hotel.

The East Brunswick Hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere with great service. The perfect example is when we ordered a gin and tonic, requesting a specific gin in a Tom Collins, without having tried it before and being unsure if it was the right selection. The bartender suggested we try it and if it didn’t work they could recommend something else. When it was delivered to our table they gave us space to try it and the waitress asked if we enjoyed it. Without being negative or asking for anything the comment was made that it was a nice selection but there’s probably better suited gins for a Tom Collins. Before we knew it the bartender was back at our table, offering to remove the drink and returning with a new Tom Collins with a perfect choice of gin. The fact that went above and beyond to ensure our drink was not just good, but perfect, is a real testament to their bar staff in particular and left the whole table very impressed.

The food was in the pricey side for pub food, when it’s good and the venue has the kind of relaxed and comfortable atmosphere we don’t mind paying a little more. The croquettes were delicious, creamy inside, crispy outside, light but also rich – these are the kinds of croquettes you always hope to receive when you place your order. The burger was generous in its size, a huge serve of meat, shoestring fries and a bit of spice from a creamy jalapeño mayo.

We were enjoying the evening and decided dessert was in order.

We went for a classic creme caramel. It had a light and creamy texture, sweet and syrupy with a wobble. The vanilla bean was visible in the caramel and the poached strawberry andhazelnut shard were nice accompaniments. It was great pub food, maybe not fine dining, but delicious nonetheless.

We love the feel of the East Brunswick Hotel, the staff, food and drinks, and the constant striving to have a better experience for the customer. We’re sure to be back!
