There’s a new hot spot in Hardware Lane! We’ve already been to Hardware Societie and our newer favourite Bowery to Williamsburg so we couldn’t resist a visit to Hash soon after they opened! It has a wicked fit out both inside and outside and the space is comfortable and appealing for a wide variety of diners. We spotted a mix of couples, families and groups all enjoying a weekend brunch. The baristas were pretty badass too ✌🏻️, somehow the coffee tastes better when they have a bit of fun making it! Potentially an exaggeration, but hey, we love staff who love what they do. We enjoyed the use of flasks as water bottles on our table but couldn’t help eyeing the next table’s hot chocolate concoction. The hot chocolate was served in a flask, poured over fairy floss in a flurry of theatre. We’ll admit to a bit of food envy – we’d already ordered single origin coffees by this point. We will be sure to return to give it a try another day. We really enjoyed the coffee at Hash. It was a rich flavour with a light acidity and a full body. It has a smooth finish and a creamy mouthfeel. The first of our meals was a glazed bacon with potato hash, smashed peas and poached eggs. We loved the easy to eat, bite sized portions, you get a bit of everything in each mouthful, allowing you to take in all the flavours at once. The glazed bacon and crispy hash were highlights in an excellent, savory meal.
Finally, we also tried the Banana and Pecan Log. It was served with a milk crumb, macadamia nut, vanilla custard and a burnt honey mascarpone. It was a beautifully presented dish, with only the exception of the quinnel; which left us wanting. The mix of textures and flavours were a delight on the palette. Our favourites were the utterly divine milk crumb, the macadamia and burnt honey with so much flavour, all carried to perfection by the moist banana and pecan log. The serving was just the right size to get a taste of everything and to balance the accompaniments.
Hash is just wonderfully lovely. We cannot recommend it enough! Just a stones throw from Hardware Societie, it’s guaranteed it won’t be a secret for long!
