+39 Pizzeria / Melbourne

Sometimes you just want, nay need pizza, and in those sometimes +39 Pizzeria is there to satisfy your pizza-lust! You’ll find it on Little Bourke Street in the heart of the CBD and well known for its authentic Italian pizza.

We were lucky to get a table after booking at the last minute and found ourselves seated at the very back right next to the pizza oven.

The menu is unsurprisingly Italian, plenty of inspiring dishes mainly with a mix of pizza and pastas, designed to showcase the fresh and delicious ingredients. We decided to start with the brushcetta plate.

The bruschetta plate is a fantastic way to get a taste of everything and is perfect for sharing! Our favourite was definitely the pesto with cherry tomato and mozzarella. The cheese was absolutely delicious and the pesto and cherry tomato were beautiful. The mushroom bruschetta was predominantly mushroom dominated with wonderful hints of truffle throughout, while the traditional brushcetta was the delightful mix of tomato, onion, garlic, basil and balsamic. The bread for all the selections was fresh and tasty.

The aroma of pizza floating around the restaurant was tantalising to say the least, and with every plate delivered to our neighbours the anticipation built. We ordered a pizza of which the name eludes me, but which was made up of proscuitto, mozzarella, rocket and tomato. The fresh and delicious ingredients really shone through, we cannot praise the cheese enough and the base and crust were light and crispy. We were so busy eating that we didn’t realise we had been sitting in a comfortably happy silence until we had finished the entire pizza. When the food is so good you’re too focused to talk you know you’ve had a fantastic meal!

You’d think we would be done at this point, and if it weren’t for the fact that Nutella was on offer it’s entirely likely we would have been. We decided to go for the Nutella and strawberry pizza, served with a home made vanilla bean ice cream for dessert.

Everything about this was delicious, gooey, melting Nutella, a thin, crispy crust, fresh strawberry and a creamy ice cream. It was definitely as good as it looks and we would recommend that you give Plus thirty-nines dessert pizza a try, even if you think you can’t fit it in!

If you’re craving a great pizza in the CBD you’ll find it at Plus Thirty-nine!
