In case you haven’t heard, the dynamic duo behind frenchtoastandindiepop are now in Melbourne for a new, exciting and caffeine fueled life!
Not to worry though, we’ve compiled a list of all our favourite places in Perth, and in any case will be back in our favourite little city frequently. While we settle in there will be some more Perth posts to fill the void but be sure to follow along with our foodie adventures in our new home!
Without further ado, here’s the list you’ve all been waiting for!
Favourite ‘local’ coffee bar – Sprolo
Sprolo was our home away from home! It’s only a recent addition to the Como/South Perth area but is already becoming quite an institution in the community. If you want to know your barista by name and exchange Christmas cards with the staff, as well as enjoy delectable, roasted on site coffee beans then look no further!
Favourite Fine Dining – Print Hall
As recent graduates fine dining wasn’t something we did often in Perth but when we did we tended to go to Print Hall. From the moment you walk in the door you will be blown away by the service, attentive but not too attentive, professional and knowledgeable. The wine list is beyond extensive and the dishes are utterly unique, stunning on the plate and with flavours that will delight and surprise. If you are looking for the finer things in life then Print Hall is where you’ll want to go!
Favourite CBD to go – Small Print
Everyone has their favourite haunt for an on the run coffee and treat and without a doubt my favourite place to drop in on the way to work is Small Print! Their coffee is consistently well brewed with a creamy finish and their bakery serves up the best croissants I have ever had!
Favourite Beaufort Street – Mary St Bakery
The cafe we have probably been to the most and always leave satisfied from, had to be Mary Street Bakery on Beaufort street! We’re really going to miss their delicious baked goods, excellent pound coffee and over the top breakfasts. As far as we are concerned a cafe that will make us fried chicken and buttermilk pancakes for breakfast will always be on our hit list. Mary Street Bakery will be sorely missed!
Small bar – Frisk
If you’re a fan of gin you will love Frisk! They have the longest gin list you’ve ever seen and can make a mean martini. They are well worth a visit to their little bar in Northbridge.
One to watch – Flour Factory
We’ve only spent a little bit of time here but can already see this place is destined for big things. You’ll find it in Raine Square, be sure to keep an eye out for their counter full of delicious things and their inventive menu options!
Breakfast West – Typika
It’s a hard thing for me to narrow down my favourite french toast in Perth but I have to say Typika’s golden french toast never fails to impress! Delicious brioche, maple bacon and banana with an overly generous serving of oozing golden caramel, this dish is an absolute winner! It also helped my decision making that Typika roast their own beans and always serve up a great coffee to accompany your meal.
Best Presentation – Harvest Espresso
We loved Harvest for their constant innovation and always beautiful presentation of their dishes. Their cafe is small but their meals pack a punch and they serve a good coffee to boot! You’ll find them on Albany Highway in Victoria Park.
Just because – Gordon Street Garage
We have loved Gordon Street Garage for their delicious meals and in house roasted coffee for as long as they’ve been open. When we want a cafe that’s reliably wonderful Gordon Street Garage is at the top of the list! You’ll find them in an old coverted garage in West Perth. The decor has a warehouse feel, is spacious and just a little hipster.
